A bathroom with tropical wallpaper, white sink, and gold fixtures. Black vanity, potted plant, and window create a bright, stylish setting by Studio 790 Interior Design.

All of our projects are near and dear to our hearts but this one is EXTRA SPECIAL. Read on ;)

Not only is this our first project reveal of 2026, it's also a Miami bathroom renovation located in the home of our founder, Ann Lopez, designed for her daughter and shared with guests as well. This project embodies everything we believe in at Studio 790 Interior Design: longevity over trends, storytelling over sameness, and beauty designed for real life.

Before: A Functional Bathroom Ready for Transformation

Before the renovation, this bathroom was perfectly serviceable, but it lacked the personality, warmth, and sense of story that we believe every space deserves. Slash it was pretty bad ;)

The finishes were simple and clean. The layout worked, but the room didn’t reflect the joy, curiosity, or layered aesthetic of the family who used it every day. It was a blank canvas waiting to become something more. Also, do you like the Dyson vacuum in the pic below?! Keeping it real on the blog, people!

After: A Bold, Story-Driven Tropical Safari Bathroom Design

The transformation reimagines the bathroom as a destination - funky with a side of timeless. Yes please!

The redesigned bathroom embraces a bold yet timeless vision, anchored by a richly patterned tropical safari wallpaper by Schumacher, that wraps the room in warmth and movement. This was the core design muse - when Ann saw this wallpaper, she and her colleague Gaby, designed the space around it. The best part? It's installed on both the walls and ceiling, creating a bold moment that feels playful enough for a tween, yet elevated enough for guests.

The black vanity grounds the space with contrast and texture, while brass fixtures add a refined glow that balances the richness of the palette. The Bedrosians Makoto 2" x 2" Porcelain Penny Round Tile introduces subtle pattern underfoot, tying together the warm tones above with a light, durable foundation below.

Every detail was chosen intentionally not to follow trends, but to create a space that feels collected and personal!

Designed for Real Life

Because this bathroom serves both Ann's daughter and visiting guests, the design needed to balance playfulness with sophistication. Storage, finishes, and layout were thoughtfully planned to support everyday routines while still feeling elevated and welcoming. This is a bathroom meant to be used, loved, and lived in.

Why This Project Matters to Us

Designing within our founder’s own home made this project especially meaningful. It reflects the heart of Studio 790’s philosophy: We don’t design for perfection, we design for people.

This Tropical Safari Bathroom Design is a reminder that even the smallest spaces can hold big stories. That a tween's bathroom can be both whimsical and refined. And that when design is rooted in intention, it becomes something far more lasting than a makeover.
