Casablanca cool: A contemporary Moroccan design in the heart of Coral Gables

We cherish each and every one of our clients, but there's an added spark of enthusiasm when a client shares our passion for vibrant hues and playful patterns. This recent project took place in the heart of Coral Gables, a neighborhood steeped in history, famed for its Mediterranean-inspired architecture, tree-lined streets, and iconic stucco roofs. In this picturesque setting, where each home tells a story, we embarked on a journey to blend our client's love for vibrant Moroccan eclectic aesthetics with the sleek sophistication of mid-century modern flair.

Alright, let’s dive right into this transformation journey. Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s take a step back and show you where we started. It's evident from the get-go that the family has a penchant for color—just take a look at that vibrant blue accent wall! While we certainly appreciate a bold focal point and we couldn't resist the opportunity to elevate this space even further.

Let's begin our journey in the heart of the home—the family room. Here, a stunning built-in steals the spotlight, crafted with precision and passion by Sunshine Cabinets, a beloved local mill-working company that holds a special place in our hearts. Led by the talented Fanny and her dedicated team, Sunshine Cabinets boasts years of experience, an unwavering commitment to detail, and a collaborative spirit that makes every project a joy. Their expertise shines through in every inch of the built-in, from the flawless craftsmanship to the thoughtful design elements that enhance both form and function. If you find yourself in the South Florida area seeking exceptional millwork, look no further—Sunshine Cabinets comes highly recommended by us, and for good reason.

The built-in features the soft and calming hue of Faded Flaxflower by Sherwin Williams. This gentle shade beautifully complements the vibrant surroundings and creates a sense of continuity throughout the home. You'll find echoes of this shade of blue tone in various areas, including the welcoming front door, ensuring a seamless flow of color and atmosphere from room to room.

When it came to styling this built-in beauty, our aim was simple: to curate a collection that felt eclectic, well-traveled, and uniquely charming. We handpicked pieces that resonated with a sense of character and history, from intricately carved figurines to handwoven textiles and cherished mementos from around the globe. Each item was chosen thoughtfully to add a personal touch and tell its own story. By blending these elements together, we crafted a display that not only enhances the built-in's elegant design but also sparks curiosity and conversation.

One of the highlights of this project was undoubtedly the stunning marble checkered floor sourced from Riad Tile. These exquisite tiles not only serve as a visual focal point but also add a touch of timeless elegance to the space.

Transitioning to the primary bathroom, our commitment to a cohesive design narrative continues. Here, we seamlessly integrate the calming blue hues that grace the rest of the home. A focal point emerges with the selection of a multi-colored scalloped backsplash tile, infusing the space with vibrancy and character. Complementing this lively feature, a white shaker-style vanity exudes timeless elegance while providing ample storage. To add a touch of sophistication, we opted for a set of brass-framed round mirrors, their warm tones harmonizing effortlessly with the surrounding decor. Together, these elements create a harmonious retreat that not only reflects the home's overarching design ethos but also offers a sense of continuity and flow throughout the space.

Let's talk about the children's bathroom next. We wanted to create a fun and lively space that sparks joy and creativity, but also one that can grow with the kids as they get older. One of the highlights is the playful shower wall adorned with sunburst-shaped blue tiles, adding a touch of whimsy and energy. We also installed a cheerful blue shaker-style double vanity, providing plenty of storage space and practicality while also adding a pop of color to the room. To add a timeless charm, we chose a subway tile vanity backsplash, adding texture and visual interest to the design. The end result? A children's bathroom filled with personality and charm, making every morning routine feel like a delightful adventure, and designed to adapt with them as they grow.

As we come to the end of our tour, let's step into the girls' bedroom—a floral-themed paradise that's every little girl's dream come true. Here, a cozy bunk bed dressed in fun striped bedding sets the stage for sleepovers and story time adventures. The walls are adorned with charming floral wallpaper, adding a touch of blooming beauty to the space. From the playful accents to the colorful decor, every corner of this room radiates joy and charm. It's a place where laughter fills the air and imaginations run wild—a haven where childhood memories are made. In this girls' bedroom, every detail has been carefully chosen to create a magical sanctuary where little ones can play, dream, and grow.
